A little about Grizedale Forest

Grizedale Forest Sculptures - All the sculptures within Grizedale Forest have been created by Lakeland artists most still in residence, many of their works have won 'The prestigious Prudential Award for the Arts in 1990'. Grizedale Forest covers the fellside between Lake Coniston and Esthwaite Water. The Grizedale Forest visitor centre is situated on the road between Hawkshead to Satterthwaite. Why not take a look at the exhibition explaining the history and wildlife of the working Grizedale forest.

Grizedale Forest Wheelchair access

Grizedale forest has two specifically designed ‘easy going trails’ suitable for wheelchair users. A self-propelled platform for wheelchairs can be requested.

1. The Ridding Wood Trail
2. Millwood Trail

Both trail have even surfaces & moderate slopes to enable Grizedale visitors with mobility difficulties have the freedom to explore Grizedale forest and enjoy the scenic views and various wooded sculptures. Grizedale forest is an area full of woodland forests with some amazing scenery and of course mountain bike routes wandering round Grizedale you will see many streams, bridleways and great views. There is many ways into The lake District's Grizedale forest, the best place to start is the Grizedale Forest visitors centre.

Mountain Biking in Grizedale Forest

There is so many different mountain biking routes in Grizedale Forest including tracks hidden deep in the forest, some marked and colour-coded - ideal for all calibres of mountain bikers from beginners to extreme riders enjoy single-track, technical mountain biking routes, extreme mountain biking with lots of tricky terrain in between and drop offs and even gangplanks.
