A Guide to the Lake District - Keswick

The town of Keswick is situated on Derwentwater in the North of The Lake District , Derwent water covers one half of the Lake District National Park. Keswick is the perfect area to choose to relaxa or equally for an action packed adventure holiday full of activities and attractions for the whole family.

The landscape of Keswick in the Lake District is one of glaciated scenery,this ranges from central volcanic mountainous peaks to smoother open typical Lake District countryside.

The village of Keswick sits at foot of these valleys with lakes and other close by villages found along the valley floors. Keswick is a great place to try a range of outdoor activities maybe mountain biking or hiking, ormaybe just to improve your existing skills. Cyclists especially mountain bikers, walkers and climbers are spoilt for choice.

You could always enjoy a lakeside walk on one of the many paths beside Thirlmere nad derwent water. If you go west of Keswickyou can explore Whinlatter mountain forest or maybe take a look at one of the many lakes Derwentwater, Bassenthwaite Lake, Crummock Water, Buttermere and Thirlmere with lots of places to relax and enjoy the Lake district.

Visitors to Keswick have a great variety of sports at their fingertips including hiking, mountain biking and road cycling, golf, fell running, horse riding, paragliding, rock climbing, water sports and fishing.

You can bring your own bike to explore, mountain bike or just potter around or hire one locally you'll find many Lake district cycle routes. For the long distance cycling there is the C2C route or for family cycling adventure there is approved forest trails tending to be very popular. There is also horse riding opportuinites, looking for safe room to travel without contact with vehicles or pedestrians, the Lake District and Keswick has it.
